We have recently updated the website with a green page link that can be accessed from the welcome page. The Dunham House will do its part to be apart of the green movement as much as possible. We currently have joined the PPG Porter Paint Bucket Program and their line of eco friendly paint. We have other future programs we will participate in as well. This spring we will have a community garden that will help supply other organizations to feed the hungry. We have a responsiblity to the future of this house as we do its past.

Since the last update I have had more speaking engagements and interest in the Dunham House has become international. We are seeing hits to the website from all over the world from Italy to England, Africa to China . There is an amazing appeal to the history of our President.

Some of this may be in part to the continued media coverage from such publications as the new book from LIFE, A Portrait of the First Lady Michelle Obama. Inside you will find a large two page photo of the Obama family visiting the house. This book is available at major outlets everywhere.

Another interesting item is that the Dunham House has been named location of the week by the Indiana Film Commission. This will allow film makers to see the house for consideration for films and tv. It will go into a location database that can be seen worldwide. With all that is going on, we are still focused on preserving the house.

We have made major strides in the renovation of the house. The floors in the entryway, upper landing, (2) guest bedrooms, and the main stairs have been finished. Thanks to Sean at Woodschuck Flooring, they have never looked better. You can see his work on the look inside page and his information is on the business associates page. Another company that has help out has been, Columns and Carvings. The trim work on the upper landing is from them and you may have seen some of there products on the show, Extreme Makeover.

This month we have officially opened the house to the public and we have booked (3) organizations for meetings. The house also welcomed author,Steve MacDonogh from Ireland. He is currently working on a book about the Kearney family. Mary Ann Kearney married Jacob William Dunham in Tipton County, Indiana and they are President Obama's 2nd great grandparents. He enjoyed his time at the house and hoped that people understand the world wide interest in the president's history. The house also recently received national attention in a historic magazine about the First Lady. It is available on news stands and there is a full page photo of the Obama's visiting the Dunham House.

In the past few weeks, The Dunham House has received more interest which has resulted in more media coverage. I have also been invited to speak at several engagements and will continue to share this story. With (2) new nationally released books, " The New York Times, OBAMA The Historic Journey" and "LIFE The American Journey of Barrack Obama" , we have been have been very lucky to be apart of both of them. I believe this only will add more interest to The Dunham House. Please visit our website often for further updates.

I recently attended the Inauguration of President Obama. From his visit to the Dunham House to seeing him take the oath for office, has been an experience I will never forget. This is not the end of the journey, it is only the beginning. In the next few weeks, we will be meeting with many professionals and organizations to start the new era of the Dunham House. Please continue to visit our website for further updates or feel free to contact us direct. As always, I thank you for your interest in the Dunham House.

I congratulate President Elect Obama on his historic run for the office of President of the United States. I also was sadden to hear of his grandmother, Madelyn Dunham passing away recently. His visit to the Dunham House has changed its history forever. My plans for the house are to have it do what it has done for over 100 years, serve the community. In months to come, I plan to work with local charities to raise funds for needed projects. In the spirit of the family who lived here, the doctors who care for the ill. the teachers who educated, and the representive who was the voice of the community in the Indiana General Assembly, the Dunham House will continue to give. I will be meeting with business leaders and sponsors to help with these projects in the coming months. I hope you will continue to visit our website often to look for upcoming event. In closing, I thank those who have helped work on this history in progress and I look forward to a productive year

Over the past few weeks the Dunham House has made great improvements. Ceilings in (2) guest bedrooms and the second floor landing have been repair or replaced. Also, the private stairs have been restored as well. With the addition of a dinning room chandelier, you can see more of the finishing touches come along. Look for new photos in the " before and after" or "a look inside" sections on the website in days to come.
